| In developing the Jeane Dixon
Museum and Library, the Wayside Foundation of American History
and Arts sought to interpret Jeane's life and accomplishments
as objectively as possible. The result is a thorough
description of Mrs. Dixon's endeavors but the museum visitor
himself decides their validity and impact.
The museum contains
artifacts, pictures, memorabilia, and informative descriptors
detailing Jeane's life. Awards and honoraria
line the walls. Her elegantly appointed bedroom, with a
canopied bed that once belonged to royalty, contains beautiful
gowns and hats and numerous religious icons. Works of art,
cherished mementoes from her travels, and gifts from friends
are scattered throughout. They give a unique insight into the
life of this truly amazing woman. The extensive research
library contains hundreds of volumes on prophecy, paranormal
studies, and presidential studies, including books Mrs. Dixon
authored as well as those she collected and studied.
Jeane Dixon's first psychic
experience occurred when she was a child barely old enough to
talk; the toddler asked her mother if she could play with a
curious-looking letter, which was to arrive several days
later. She later predicted the tragic fates of several
celebrities with astonishing accuracy. A President sought her
counsel. She refused to take money for psychic consultations.
Later in life, she established the Children to Children
Foundation, a benevolent organization. The museum tells these
stories, and other, more whimsical tales of what life is like
for a seer. The visitor may examine copies of books,
magazines, and tabloids containing thousands of Jeane's
prognostications, many of which did not come to fruition. The
museum also examines the opinions of Jeane's skeptics and
their theories explaining paranormal activities.
The Jeane Dixon Museum
examines Jeane's unique relationship with her Church in light
of her use of astrology, divination, and reincarnation. One
exhibit shows a fascinating correlation Dixon made between the
12 signs of the Zodiac and Christ's 12 apostles. After careful
scrutiny, Church leaders said they were comfortable with her
concept of reincarnation as it was similar to the writings of
Saint Augustine.
Best known as The Psychic Who
Predicted Kennedy's Assassination, Dixon termed the event a
revelation, an unalterable future event, rather than a
prediction, an event which could have been changed by human
actions. One striking exhibit describes the personal anguish
she felt when she discovered Kennedy's fate.
The Museum also features a
lighthearted look at Jeane's love of all animals, but most
specifically Mike the MajiCat, her companion of 25 years. Even
though Jeane's real estate partner, her beloved husband Jimmy
Dixon, had to admit that Mike was about the ugliest cat he had
ever seen, the feline became a "star" in his own
right. Heartwarming stories about Jimmy Dixon and two of
Jeane's siblings round out our look at the many facets of this
extraordinary woman's life. |
